If you enjoy creating your own recreational opportunities, there are endless possibilities around the Lodge. During the summer, the sun rises at 5 AM and doesn’t set until 10 PM, leaving plenty of time to find your own adventures throughout the area. The Tobacco Valley hosts a rich variety of activities throughout the year sure to spark your interest. If you’re interested in coordinating your visit around a particular event, please contact us in advance, as our accommodations can fill up fast.

In April, Eureka hosts the perennially popular Rendezvous Days celebration, which celebrates the frontier spirit that makes Northwest Montana such a fantastic place. As spring turns to summer, popular events are more common and include the June Amish Auction; July’s Wood Rock Festival, Tobacco Valley Rodeo, and Fiberfest Eureka; in August, the Tobacco Valley hosts the Eureka, Montana Quilt Show, the Lincoln County Fair, and the Bull Thing. With the end of summer, the Valley takes a bit of a rest for the winter, though the Christmas Opening Weekend in December is particularly noteworthy.

Outdoors Activities: For wildlife viewing, hiking, fishing, boating, and other outdoors activities, be sure to visit the 2.2 million acre Kootenai National Forest, which spreads through Northwest Montana and Northwest Idaho. WIthin the National Forest, common destinations include the Kootenai Falls, the 95-mile long Lake Koocanusa (about 10 miles from the Lodge), and the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness. Glacier Park: Glacier Park, approximately an hour and a half east of the Lodge, offers significant recreational opportunities and is a destination unto itself. Beyond the obvious choices such as the Going to the Sun Road, hiking, and wildlife viewing, Glacier Park offers river rafting, historical sites of interest, and pristine alpine environments. If you’re in our area, Glacier Park, and the activities it hosts, is close to a must-see.

Winter Fun: Skiing is a powerful winter draw in Eureka. Riverstone Lodge is within an hour of four fantastic ski slopes. These include Big Mountain in Whitefish, MT; Turner Mountain in Libby, MT; Fernie Resort in Fernie, BC; and Kimberley Alpine Resort near Cranbrook, BC. The Montana state travel information website offers information about slope and weather conditions that will help you better plan your trip. Ask us about guided snowmobile trips. Of course, if skiing isn’t your taste, the Lodge is a great place to curl up by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate.
